New Zealand climb to second place in World Rugby Rankings

New Zealand has made a remarkable climb to the second position in the World Rugby Rankings after an impressive performance in the recently concluded Rugby Championship tournament. Their unbeaten success in the competition saw them secure the Bledisloe Cup for the 21st consecutive year while also clinching the Rugby Championship title.

During the final round of the tournament, the All Blacks displayed their dominance, defeating Australia 38-7. Shannon Frizell, Codie Taylor, Will Jordan, Caleb Clarke, Mark Telea, and Reiko Ioane all scored tries for the team.

This victory resulted in the All Blacks gaining 0.45 rating points, allowing them to surpass France and claim the second spot in the rankings. Meanwhile, Australia remains at the eighth position, trailing behind Argentina by a deficit of 1.60 points.

In another closely contested match, South Africa managed to secure a one-point victory over Argentina. This win earned the Springboks a slender rating point gain of 0.01, allowing them to maintain their fourth position in the rankings, with Argentina remaining at seventh.

However, the standout performance of the week came from Fiji, who defeated Samoa 33-19 in Apia. This victory propelled Fiji to the 10th place in the rankings, while Samoa dropped to 13th. Fiji’s exceptional performance earned them a substantial rating point increase of 1.51, making them the biggest gainer in the rankings.
