RSM Classic Props Selection and Best of the Best

The RSM Classic is the final tournament of the 2022-23 U.S. Tour season and the last chance for players to secure a spot in the 2024 tournament. The new FedExCup Fall Championship will feature seven events with the top 50 players locked in. This gives players a chance to compete for the coveted “Bottom 10” (51st through 60th) who will earn spots in two select events next year.

Course and Conditions

The RSM Elite Tournament is played at Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island, Georgia. The course is a par 70 and measures 7,005 yards. It is a traditional links style course with undulating fairways, deep bunkers and challenging greens.

The weather forecast for the week is sunny with highs in the mid-60s. Winds are expected and gusts could be as high as 20 mph.

Prize Picks

Ludwig Aberg defeats Davis Thompson (DraftKings -180)

Aberg is looking to secure a spot in the U.S. Masters by moving into the top 50 in the world rankings by the end of the year. He is currently ranked 53rd. Thompson has been playing well lately, but Aberg is favored in this match.

RSM Classic Props Selection and Best of the Best

Akshay Bhatia in the Top 20 (BetMGM +200)

Bhatia has had a great fall this year with three consecutive rankings tied for 21st or higher. He’s looking to build on his 45th place finish at last year’s RSM Elite.

Keith Mitchell over Thomas Detry (DraftKings -122)

Both Mitchell and Detry will need strong weeks to move into the next top ten. Mitchell is an island resident and a regular at this event. Detry suffered an elimination in Bermuda and hasn’t finished in the top 30 in his last five global appearances.

2023 prop selection record: 46-48-2

Best pick.

Ludwig Abegg (BetMGM +1400).

Abegg hasn’t won yet, but he’s knocking on the door. He has seven consecutive top-15 finishes worldwide, including a playoff loss at Sanderson Farms.

Russell Henley (+1600).

Henry is the second ranked player in the field at No. 25 and the other Georgia resident in the field (Columbus). He has a solid record at the RSM Classic, having finished runner-up in 2019.

Brian Harman (+2000).

A resident of St. Simons Island, Harman tied for second last year and is making his 12th appearance. He is a solid all-around player and should be one of the contenders this week.

Corey Connors (+2200).

Connors is playing in his first tournament since the Tour Championship, where he won the Valero Texas Open earlier this year. He is a proven winner and could be a dark horse this week.

Eric Cole (+3000).

Leading the Rookie of the Year race, Cole is ranked 48th in the world and is looking for his first win on tour. Cole has three top-four finishes in his last four events.

Chris Kirk (+4500).

Coker won this event in 2013 and tied for fourth in 2014 and ’18. He is ranked 49th in the world. He’s a perfect fit for this course and could be a great value this week.

Camilo Villegas (+5500).

Villegas followed up his runner-up finish two weeks ago with his first win in nine years in Bermuda. He is a dangerous player and could be in contention for the title this week.

The RSM Elite is an open tournament with many potential contenders. The course is challenging, but the weather should favor scoring.

Players to watch include Ludwig Aberg, Russell Henley, Brian Harman, Corey Connors, Eric Cole, Chris Kirk and Camilo Villegas.
